Binatone releases a non-touchscreen, Android 2.1, QWERTY E-reader

Category : Android

Not often you see an Android device that isn’t a touchscreen. Well that what this Binatone ReadMe Mobile is. It is in a sense a cross between a tablet and an e-reader. Check out that nifty QWERTY keypad and directional button, sporting a 7-inch 800×400 display. In all reality this device probably won’t fall under the ‘gotta have’ category for most Android fans. These days a touchscreen is a big deal and one of the first things a person looks for in a device. At a price of £129 or $212 thought this e-reader could appeal to those willing to overlook the fact that it isn’t touchscreen, and is packed with an older version of Android.

Netflix Offering 3 Free Months On Newly Purchased LG Revolutions

Category : Android

Netflix is apparently getting vary serious about getting their service to as many Android phones as possible. LG and Netflix have teamed up in order to help you understand the beauty of the most famous movie and tv watching service. From now until August 28th, anyone who purchases an LG Revolution on Verizon ($199) will be given 3 months of Netflix for free. This is definitely a better deal than the usual 1 month free deal that Netflix likes to give out. As with all of these types of promotions, you’ll automatically be signed up for the $7.99/month plan after the three months is up, but you can cancel that at any time. This probably isn’t enough to sway you into dropping your phone for the LG Revolution, but if you were on the fence about getting one hopefully this will help you over.

Google Acquires More Than 1,000 Patents From IBM As The Patent Wars Continue

Category : Android

There seems to be more news in the smartphone industry about patents and lawsuits than there is about phones now a days. Companies are putting up their barricades in an attempt to prevent the patent trolls to come knocking. Despite Google’s public stance against the practice of buying companies to attack others, it appears as if the company has realized that in order to survive in the technology world it will have to spend a lot of money in acquiring patents as well. Hopefully Google stays true to its word and uses the IP as a defense-only device and/or for innovated reason rather than trying to win cheap lawsuits against smaller companies. So what now? Boy, when Google wants to do something it gets it done. Read More…
